Poor Andersen had quite an eventful first week home. His bilirubin levels were pretty high (which made him jaundice) in the hospital when they discharged us, so the doctor wanted us to get his blood drawn the next day to see if was going up or down. They went up, and then the next day they went up again. It was close enough to the critical levels that they requested we do a bili-light treatment with him. They bring this little thing to your house that looks like a miniature tanning bed. You have to keep him in it all day and all night, only to take him out to feed and change him. He had to wear these little goggles to protect his eyes and everything. Poor guy...he didn't mind it so much during the day, he just slept, but at night, when he was more awake and alert, he would just cry and cry. Since I couldn't take him out, I laid on the floor next to him singing him songs and holding his hand. It was not fun. But, after 3 days and 2 nights, his bilirubin levels were normal, YEAH!
In the bed with his goggles, mittens and hat. We called his goggles his aviator glasses. The hat helped keep his goggles on, and to help keep him warm, the mittens too.
Isn't this an amazing little contraption! It cast a nice glow in our bedroom at night too. So glad it worked and that we are done with that!
